Torq Privacy Policy
Torq is operated by JVH, INC ("Torq", "we").
Draft template — have a lawyer review before launch. Last updated September 15, 2026.
What we collect
- Account: name, email, phone, role (customer / mechanic / shop).
- Vehicles: year, make, model, VIN, plate, mileage, service history — to book and record services.
- Location: customers — the service address you choose; mechanics — live GPS while online and during active jobs (every ~5 seconds) so customers can track arrival and the dispatcher can find the closest mechanic. Location sharing stops when you go offline.
- Verification documents: ID, licenses, certifications, insurance, business links (providers only). Visible only to Torq's review team.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. Torq never stores card numbers or bank details.
- Photos & messages: issue photos, inspection reports, and in-app chat between the parties to a job.
- Diagnostics: symptom descriptions you type are sent to an AI provider (OpenAI) to generate suggestions; they are not used to train models.
How we use it
To match jobs, process payments, show tracking, send notifications, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and improve Torq.
Sharing
Customers and Providers see each other's first name, vehicle/job details, location for the job, ratings and tier. We share data with service providers (Google Firebase, Stripe, OpenAI, Apple push) only to operate Torq. We don't sell personal data.
Retention & deletion
Service history is kept while your account exists. Delete your account from Profile or email support@torqmechanics.com; verification documents are deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except where retention is legally required.
Your choices
You can disable location or notifications in iOS Settings (some features won't work). You can request a copy of your data by email.
